  • Best months: Aug–Oct, Jan–Feb

A humpback whale diving, its fluke above the water, in front of the forested ridge of the Costa Ballena coast

    Whale watching

Three hours on Costa Rica's South Pacific looking for humpback whales that weigh up to forty metric tonnes, close enough to watch from your own seat on the boat. We look for dolphins, sea turtles and caves on the same trip, and depending on how clear the water is there may be a chance to snorkel or swim in the caverns. The price includes the ticket into Marino Ballena National Park, water, fruit and a bilingual guide. Not suitable for babies under one year old.

    from $96.00

  • A crew member on the yellow deck of the OsaMar boat holding up a large Pacific cubera snapper

    Sport fishing

Five hours, private — just your group, up to five people, from $900 for the boat. It begins with entry to Marino Ballena National Park and a briefing from the crew, then you sail out through the marine park with the coastline and the mountains behind you; dolphins, sea turtles and coastal birds are common on the way. At the fishing grounds the captain and the guides set up the professional gear and stay with you, for tuna, mahi-mahi, snapper, mackerel and horse mackerel. Beginner or expert makes no difference. Water, fruit, the gear and the park ticket are included; parking is not. Not suitable for anyone prone to seasickness.

    from $900.00

  • A guest in a mask and snorkel at the surface in open water, arms raised, with a crew member alongside

    Caño Island snorkelling and diving

Snorkelling and diving at Isla del Caño, the island reserve that sits off the Osa coast — one of the four trips we run alongside the whale tour. Tell us how many of you there are and when you are here, and we will quote it.

About us

OsaMar Adventures runs boat trips out of Marino Ballena National Park, in Bahía Ballena de Uvita on Costa Rica's South Pacific coast. Gerald Bermúdez runs it, the guides are from here, and the park entrance ticket is part of the price on every trip.

The three-hour whale-watching trip goes out for the humpbacks — up to forty metric tonnes of them — and for the dolphins, sea turtles and sea birds that share the same water. Depending on how clear the water is there may be a chance to snorkel or to swim in the caves. August, September, October, January and February are the best months for whales.

We also run sport fishing for private groups of up to five, snorkelling and diving at Isla del Caño, Corcovado National Park and the mangrove channels of the Río Térraba. We only work on the water.

Our commitment is not only to provide visitors with an unforgettable wild marine life experience, but also to protect and preserve it for generations to come. Write to us on WhatsApp and the boat is booked with us.
